To use these files you must download all parts of the Custom IPSW file that you want to use. Then use WinRAR to extract them. Just right click on ANY of the RAR files that you download and WinRAR will extract the files leaving you with ONE IPSW file that you will restore with. It doesn't matter if you extract Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 etc etc, they will all extract the same way leaving you with just ONE IPSW file.

Q: Can I use these Custom IPSW's to restore my VIRGIN non-jailbroke iDevice?
A: YES & NO! You cannot just use a Custom IPSW on a virgin iDevice right off. You must use iREB to put your device into a low level Jailbreak+DFU Mode. The reason is because the bootrom has to be PATCHED FIRST before you can use Custom IPSW's. Simply restoring with a Custom IPSW'd does not do this. This is different for MAC users because they can create custom ipsw's right in PwnageTool and then when they are asked if their device has ever been jailbroken before they would select NO in which PwnageTool would then patch their bootrom. For windows users you must use iREB to put your device into Jailbreak+DFU Mode.

Q: Does this update my baseband?
A: NO! As with all Custom IPSW's I provide they will NOT update you baseband. HOWEVER see next question below for more info.
Q: What if my iPhone 4 is still on 4.0, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 FW and I want to upgrade to 4.1 but I don't want to upgrade my baseband?
A: You would need to use TinyUmbrella to save your SHSH file for 4.1 FW and then use TinyUmbrella to restore your iPhone 4 with a stock 4.1 IPSW. TinyUmbrella will prevent your baseband from being upgraded however this ONLY APPLIES to the iPhone 4
Q: What if I want to upgrade to the new baseband since I don't have to worry about an unlock?
A:
Windows Users: You will have to restore your phone using a Stock 4.1 IPSW, then use greenpois0n or limera1n to jailbreak, and then you can use Custom IPSW's from this point on.
Mac Users:You will have to restore your phone using a Stock 4.1 IPSW and then use PwnageTool to Create an IPSW and then when PwnageTool asks if your device has been jailbroken before answer NO!
Q: I don't like the Custom Boot/Restore Logos you have provided.
A: That's fine then sounds like you need to make your own Custom IPSW's then
Baseband Unlock
UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE with ultrasn0w v0.9.3 - SiNfuL iPhone
If your iPhone 4 is still on 4.0, 4.0.1, or 4.0.2 FW and your baseband is still at 01.59.00 then you can use greenpois0n or limera1n to perform the initial Jailbreak on your device. From this point on once you have Jailbroken then you can use Custom IPSW's.
If your iPhone 4 is still on 4.0, 4.0.1, or 4.0.2 FW and your baseband is still at 01.59.00 then you can use PwnageTool to create an IPSW and Jailbreak your device. When PwnageTool asks you if your device has ever been jailbroken before make sure you select NO!
If you have an iPhone 4 that is on 4.0 or 4.0.1 and you Jailbroke using Jailbreakme.com then you may be able to just restore using a Custom IPSW from this thread. If you are unsuccessful and you get an error while restoring you may have to use the other options listed above.
- You first need to Jailbreak your device using greenpois0n or limera1n FIRST! (Jailbreakme.com MIGHT work)
- Once you have done that then you can use Custom IPSW's from this point on.
3.1.2 Users is simple, just Jailbreak using blackra1n or if you are already Jailbroken then you should have no problem upgrading with a Custom IPSW.
3.1.3 Users
- Easiest way I can think would be to find someone who has a MAC or go down to your local Best Buy and use one of their MACS to restore your device using PwnageTool. The reason being is that when you create a Custom IPSW using PwnageTool you are then asked if your device is already Jailbroken. At this point you would want to select NO so that PwnageTool can patch your bootrom to allow Custom IPSW's to be installed. The only way I know of to do this on Windows is to use greenpois0n or limera1n however to use those tools you would have to upgrade to 4.1 FIRST which in this case would NOT be the way to go because doing so would update your baseband preventing your from unlocking.

Some sad news about the Boot Logos as apparently this version of PwnageTool only allows changing of the boot & recovery logos for the iPhone 3G. I'm assuming this is due to some kinda limitation in the 4.1 FW and NOT PwnageTool itself.
Here are the BOOT and RECOVERY logos that are used for supported devices.
If you lack enemies, you're not doing something worthwhile!
