iPhone 5 Release Date – July 2011

Despite reception issues, somehow iPhone 4 has been able to be on top of the smartphone industry. However it is still a big scandal of Apple and sure people don’t forget it. According to some reliable sources, the iPhone 5 is going to be released in July 2011 and solve the issue on reception completely.
Many people expected Apple would announced it sooner in the Apple September Event 2010 but it didn’t happen. At this point it’s very clear that Apple is still passing some tests and pre-production stage carefully for this iPhone 5 so that the device will be flawless.

Here are some expected features of the iPhone 5:

  • A new, thinner and sleeker body design.
  • Face Time (Video chat) on 3G and 4G (no longer restricted to WiFi only).
  • Act as a payment method in various stores and establishments (no additional phone attachment required).
  • Integrate the NFC technology using a hardware from NXP Semiconductor.
  • Face recognition.
  • Hologram Projector or Pico Projector.
  • Custom E-mail alerts with ability to assign different tones to each email address.
  • OLED screen.
  • Scratch proof and shatter proof screen.
  • Extended battery life = 14 hours talk time on 3G and 7 hours on 4G. Standby 600 hours.
  • High Definition audio.
  • Messaging indicator light.
  • True GPS built in.
  • FM radio receiver
  • Pop-up Radial Menus
Take a look at the iPhone 5 concept with futuristic hologram projector, that looks great but really I don’t think it will appear on the iPhone 5.

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that he has got untethered jailbreak working on the latest iOS 4.2.1 firmware. He further explains that this a “backup” plan to Comex’s upcoming userland method and that it is generalizable.

In the description of the video, which was used MuscleNerd specifies the kernel version 4.2 beta 3 of IOS in order to successfully run the Jailbreak Untethered, since it is vulnerable all'exploit Star comex used in Spirit, in Jailbreakme and jailbreak iOS4.1; in this way they will not be used any new exploits.

Nevertheless, MuscleNerd states that comex is developing a more effective method. But for now this is a backup plan

More details to come. And last but not least, all ios DEVICE will be supported in this said jailbreak.

The new Cydia was released yesterday however it doesn't show up anywhere in Cydia as an update. At this time you must download and install it manually following the directions below.

Download the new Cydia v1.0.3366-1.deb

There are a few different ways you can install however the simplest for most people would be...

- FTP into your phone using something like iSutal, WinSCP, iFunBox etc.
- Navigate your way to the folder /private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall (If you get to the Media folder and find that there is no Cydia folder then you just need to manually create one. Same with the AutoInstall folder. THEY ARE CASE SENSITIVE!!)
- Now drag and drop the cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb file that you downloaded above into that folder
- Reboot your device and that's it!

Changes that I have noticed so far...

- AMAZINGLY FAST throughout the entire app! Saurik must have finally added some nitrous or boost to Cydia because it's WICKED FAST NOW!
- Interface is pretty much the same with the exception of a few things here and there
- The Changes badge is finally working again (I am sure most of you have noticed that on previous versions of Cydia when there were updates available for the apps you have already installed there used to be a little red badge with a number on the Changes tab however ever since iOS4 came out this hadn't been working until now.)

~~UPDATE~~
Some people are reporting that this isn't working on 3.x FW and that Saurik hasn't ported it to work with 3.x FW yet. However there are people who are reporting that this works just fine so perhaps certain people aren't installing correctly. If you have installed this on 3.X FW and it isn't working then just do the following...

- Download Cydia v1.0.3222-73.deb
- Follow the instructions above for putting this deb file into the AutoInstall folder and installing
- Make SURE that you delete the other deb file if it is still in the AutoInstall folder
